One of the most inspirational mosaics I have
ever completed was this cross.  The pastor at
our church wanted something different to hang
on the wall at our contemporary service.
Together we came up with this idea.  I cut MDF
to the measurements of 4ft X 6ft in the shape of
a cross.  I hand cut all the pieces of glass to be
used.  I outlined the edges of the cross with
square pieces of glass to give it definition.  We
wanted the congregation to be a part of the
cross, so during a worship service, they glued
pieces of glass on the cross.  I then filled in the
gaps with other cut pieces of glass.  I placed
river rocks in the middle of the cross for texture
and symbolism.  I placed a halo at the top of the
cross and flowers at the ends to represent
hands and feet.  I then grouted it with black
grout.  And that was very time consuming.  But
the finished cross is more beautiful than I could
have ever imagined.  The last pictures are of it
hanging in the auditorium.
